Windows 10 upgrade (from Win 7 Home edition)

Options
Looking to upgrade but concerned about programs I have installed already and how these will be affected. Most important is Office 2007 which I still intend to use (which I bought) but I cannot find the original CD/box with the all important activation code.

When you upgrade to 10, will Office 2007 work or do I have to reactivate it?

Any issues about installing other browsers - I don't use IE now and google rather than bing?

Appreciate a steer.

Google and Bing are just web sites that work on any browser .

Google Magical Jellybean Keyfinder to find your Office key .

Sorry, non techie me. I assumed Microsoft having given away the OS might make it difficult to use an alternate browser and search engine.

Thanks for the tip re key, very handy.

You might still need the software, so take note of the exact edition, just in case.
  • In my experience the upgrade left everything exactly as it was before and I am pretty sure your Office will remain registered just as it was. You can certainly use another browser, though Windows 10 has a habit of changing back the default to Edge if you are not careful.
Having used W10 for a couple of weeks now I can't really see what all the fuss is about, it is excellent.
  • Hi. I've just done the same upgrade on my (formerly) Windows 7 Home laptop. In my case, the upgrade was painless and all the programmes (including MS Office) all remained in place. I hope this helps.
