Barclays Current account plus - changing to Tech Pack

Got a letter from Barclays today. I have their Current Account plus - which was a great account - for £6.50 per month I had access to £300 fee-free overdraft, mobile phone insurance, tablet insurance, and extended warranty appliances etc.
The letter says they are changing my Current Account Plus to regular bank account (no fee) but if I want to keep the mobile & gadget insurance (and have a £200 fee-free overdraft facility) I need to add Tech Pack which is £9.50, not £6.50. Such a disappointment - they're charging £3 more and taking away some of the perks.

I had the same thing...seriously considering if I can get a better deal, and a switching bonus elsewhere!0

I decided to stay... I will be paying them £12.50 per month (£9.50 tech pack and £3 blue rewards account fee) and they will give me £10 back (blue rewards incentives). So in effect I will be paying £2.50 each month to get mobile & gadget insurance and to have access to a £200 fee-free overdraft... yes there is probably a better deal elsewhere, but it's not worth the hassle for me.
I'm happy with Barclays as my main account for bills and shopping, and HSBC Advance for salary and other income (also like the idea of having 2 accounts just in case).PAYDBX16: #135 paid £859 / £92590
