Hi a friend has asked me to help him find a tablet and i thought i would ask for some advice here, as i'm a little out of date with these things (I have a HUDL 2 and it does everything i need)
Obviously he wants to spend as less as possible but £250 is his max budget
Some requirements are:
Android (or maybe even the dual ones with Windows and Android?)
USB connectivity
10 inch screen
Good battery life
2GB RAM
32 GB storage
External SD memory card slot
HDMI connection (if possible but not essential)
Decent front/back camera
He is mainly going to use it for browsing, movies and music.
I have heard people recommend Nexus and Lenovo, are these the most reputable brands out there now?

No external microSD card? My £30 Amazon Fire tablet does most of that stuff
If you need a bigger screen its 10" big brother is £199 - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fire-10-1-Display-Wi-Fi-Black/dp/B00VKNFSYY/ref=sr_1_2
Downside - Amazon tablets aren't 'proper' android tablets, and don't use the Google store. This can be fixed with a little hackity-hack though.0 -

Yea, forgot about the external SD! Just added it to the opening post
I think i would prefer him to get a proper Android tablet otherwise I'm going to be the one setting it all up for him!0 -
I don't actually think you'll find a tablet with those specs at that price - so you need to find out what you can compromise on
Maybe 8" rather than 10?0 -
I think the Linx 1010B is worth considering at £142 from Amazon.
It's Windows 10 only but has:
10" screen
Can be used docked or undocked to the included keyboard
32GB Storage (don't forget Win10 will use some of that) but with 2 proper USB2.0 ports and a Micro SD card slot
1.83GHz processor
2GB RAM
and MS Office Mobile for life (Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc)
Just as importantly, with over a thousand reviews it's got a decent 4* rating so people have obviously been pleased with it.

Nexus is effectively Google's in-house brand (although made out of house by the likes of LG) so the big advantage is that at least for a few years they will always be among the first the get new releases of Android - some may argue how advantageous this is but my experience is that newer is generally better once any minor teething troubles are resolved.
I have a Lenovo ultrabook and I find it pretty good, although some of their cheaper offerings are not necessarily liked that much. I don't know about their tablets so can't comment.0 -

Thanks
What about dropping down to 16GB storage?
The reason i thought 10 inch over 8 is because he wants to watch movies on there, so i thought a bigger screen would be better for that0 -

Thanks, i will ask him if he is OK to go with Windows, seems like a decent price for the spec
But what are Linx like, are they a good company or more of the budget/cheapo end of quality brands?0 -
There should be a lot of choice for £250.
They could even get something like this - a tablet with a detachable keyboard (so it's nearly a laptop when you want it), and made by HP, for only £230 (probably cheaper elsewhere too).
Only one camera, and running Windows, but otherwise seems to meet the spec.
