tax credits

my hours are 20 each week but my partners vary anything from 0 to 40 hrs as he's self employed, On my tax credits form i stated that i do 20hrs and my partner does 16 on average would this affect the tax credits thanks

im not to sure on tax credits and self employed but my husband does a lot of over time each year so our tax credits is worked out on last years income and not his basic income for this year, as we were very overpaid one year and i didnt want to get into that situation again
could you maybe not tell them to work it out on his last years income and then if he earns a bit more then your payments would only drop slightly, if he earns less then they would pay you the extraIf you want the rainbow you have to go through the rain.
