Staying on track - very long February

February has never felt so long. I am just longing for paypay - last working day! We have cut up the credit cards and as soon as I get paid I will clear CC1 and CC2 and take 185 off CC3. CC3 is 0% until July but I plan to pay the rest in March and April. Then get onto the car loan

The worry is I am wishing my life away longing for the next 3 pay days after that I would be happy for the world so slow down again although I have to start on the car loan then...Right now I can't believe I will lose momentum but I can see from reading lots of threads that lots of people run out of steam...I guess that's normal

Just thinking aloud really

  • I listen to dave ramsey pretty much everyday to keep me fired up.

Yes he can be a bit of a tool. (to say the least) but his debt advice is unwavering, steadfast and enthusiatic. For some reason it works for me.

  • Another Dave Ramsey fan here, he's a great motivator but agreed, maybe not to everyone's taste!

Despite the odd set-back now and then... haven't lost momentum yet! I fully understand what you mean about wishing it away - that's definitely how I have felt since starting in October last year. Tracking the spends (and more importantly the NSD's) are motivating and you'll be suprised at how quickly the time ticks away!

I think when people talk about debt as stealing from their future self, it's this feeling; the months of cutbacks and boredom and wishing for the end of it, with no tangible reward at the end - just a number on a spreadsheet.

It will be worth it in the end when you have cleared your debts :) The saying 'bit of short term pain for long term' gain keeps me motivated.

Thanks for the replies. Good to keep me motivated. Can't wait for tomorrow morning when I will have been paid. I am obsessed at the moment and it is all about realising that I have been stealing from my future self. I will remember that every day

I know the feeling everyone, I just got paid, rounded of my savings account, and know I've got to wait 4 weeks, really, before I can put anymore in. By the end of the year, I want to be loan free, I'm prepared to make sacrifices, but it's going to be hard, seeing friends on Facebook, doing this, doing that, short term loss, for long term gain, eh? Can't wait for this year to finish, and it's only February!!
