I've just renewed my multi car insurance and found that Aviva is a lot cheaper than Admiral this year. Don't let Admiral rip you off!!

I found Aviva reasonably good at not putting the renewal premiums up, but moved the family 'fleet' to LV last year.

Do you genuinely save much on a multi-car ploicy compared to taking out the best policy for each car seperately? There only seem to be Admiral, LV, and Aviva doing multicar whereas you have the whole field to get an individual quote from. I am still on multi-car with Admiral but there were some quotes for my individual cars that were significantly better than Admiral's. They agreed to match on renewal but just saying that the supposed multi-car savings are somewhat illusory.

Personally, I've never found multi-car insurance worthwhile, especially when you take into account cashback from Quidco/TCB. I also agree with EdGasket that it also limits your choice by combining cars on a single policy.

I've recently taken out new insurance for my car. Around £220. Less £63 cashback from TCB.

Am now looking for insurance for my wife's car. Current best quote is again Aviva at approx. £240, less the current TCB cashback of £52.50.

So would be £220+£240-£63-£52.50=£344.50 to cover both cars.

Multi-car insurance with Aviva can't come close to this figure, even after a single cashback..

So in MY opinion, the cheapest option, is to keep both policies separate - provides maximum flexibility to use different companies and also enables TWO lots of cashback :-)
