The house is empty. I already tried asking these things, the OP consider the matter solved......0

The only way people can tell if heating an empty property for £15 a week is reasonable is by knowing roughly what the system set up is.
For example, modern boilers and TRVs have frost settings, which keep the house warm enough to prevent pipes from freezing, and damp issues etc. This would/should cost far less than £15 a week.
But never mind, if you already have your answer, then that is great.
Its got nothing like that. Its an old boiler. Don't have the make/model on me - its a 3 mile drive away and I dont go there every day.
there's no thermostat, so when I say its on 4 x 30mins - its on constantly for 2 hours per day. Unless perhaps the system reaches its operating system and doesn't actually have to burn gas the whole time (which sounds quite reasonable actually).
You're still asking about "heating an empty property" and that's still irrelevant. It could be full, empty, or housing a herd of cattle. The scenario would be the same.0 -

Erm, that was a key part of your initial question. You also responded to my initial post by saying:ptrichardson wrote: »That's not what I'm after. The house is up for sale and completely empty with nobody living in it.
So you were bringing it up, not me. It is even in your title!!
You asked: Is £15 a week is a lot to heat the house to keep it free of damp.
My response : We can only tell you that with a bit more information!
If your house has a modern efficient boiler and trv valves and good insulation then £15 would not be reasonable.
If your house has an old boiler with poor controls and no trv valves and poor insulation, £15 sounds more reasonable.
There are so many variables it is hard to answer if £15 is reasonable or not, that is why I asked more questions!!!!!
Get it yet?!
If that is not helpful to you, then that is not my problem.0 -

wow. Still going back to irrelevant topics.
The only relevant point - is 2hrs heating per day likely to cost £15 per week. That's literally the only question here.
Absolutely nothing to do with valves, boiler efficiency etc etc. Can't see why you can't see that. Other people have been able to understand and answer just fine.
Anyway, its time to stop feeding the troll. So you've been added to my ignore list - so don't bother replying with more pointless questions.0 -
One last point to make assuming you now have a gas prepay meter, have you checked screens 26 and 27 on the meter ( need card inserted ) ?26 is debt payable per week, 27 is total debt remaining. Debt repayment can be between £3.50 and £16 per week. Standing charge debt will be on the first screen if there is any.0

You just can't help some people, I am glad I am on his ignore list.
It was like trying to make him see his own reflection.0 -

I'll double check, but the debt that was on the meter was paid off a long time ago - don't know why they couldn't clear it - I called them twice and had 2 cards sent out, but there was still debt on the meter. only about £20 though.0
