Both pensioner and student

Options
:wall:Help please, first time poster. I am registered as a post grad research student and am transferring to MPhil/PhD status. I am funding this out of my small ex-work pension. I have just received my government pension. I am 63. I am looking for some funding to help me. Any ideas please? Thanks

Sue - why don't you look online at your University for Bursaries and Research grants in your discipline? Or even look for a Research Studentship (universities shouldn't be ageist, so why shouldn't you apply?) There is also a Grants section here on the MSE website that gives a link to Charities who offer bursaries (but be warned, most of them are very specific!)

You might have missed the deadlines for this year - submissions are usually made Jan-Mar. If you have, well, with all those years of working experience, why not ask if there is any paid teaching work you can do? You don't need formal teaching qualifications to teach in Higher Education, and they might need someone to assist eg with Foundation skills. If there isn't paid teaching work, ask if there is any part time work at the library, or customer services. Hope this is of use.
