Iva on credit reports

Hi ya

Just a quick question.

I got an iva on 23,02,2010. I then had no choice but to go bankrupt in april 2011 which would obviously terminated my iva.

My iva company say my termination date was 05,2013 as to which i questioned as it should have been my bankrupcy date. They say the termination date dosnt matter too much as it should drop off my credit report 6 years after the start date not termination date.

So my question is

Does it come off credit reports automatically of do i have to request the courts to notify the credit reference angencys to remove it ?

Hope that all makes sense.

Many thanks in advance for taking the time to read.

As long as it has been marked as ended/terminated or whatever they call it, it will drop off your credit reports 6 years from the start date without you having to do anything.

    Thats what i thought.
It is showing completed, equifax have removed it automatically but experian say i,v,a s dont go off there reports automatically. They say i need to contact the courts and they have to request the credit angencies to remove it from my files. They say defaults etc and bankruptcys are automatic but i,v,a s have to be request by the courts to remove them even though it is down as complete.

    😕😕

Hopefully the Experian rep here can comment on what the issue might be with that. :)

Well, I tweeted the head of Experian Consumer affairs, and he thinks what you are being told is 'strange'.

Just had a email from a lady call catherine from experion saying she will remove it from my file and to allow 7 days for it to update.
I was more upset with the fact i pay nearly £15 a month for my report etc so i can keep an eyeon it during my clean up and no one seemed to want to help me.

Just one more entry on my file that they need to update the default date on as the creditor insisted that they sent the credit agencies an updated default date in mid january, equafix and call credit have updated it instantly but the chap from experian that told me about the iva said it could take 6 to 8 weeks for them to update my file. Just seems experian dont do people many favours when it come to keeping reports up to date.

    Rant over

Thanks again fermi for your help

It all come off automatically 6 years from start of IVA and 6 years from start bankruptcy

In short term the IVA date may effect your credit score, as the most recent discharge is 1 year later than it could\should be. The effect of this will fade over time and changing it now will probably have very little effect
  • Check what it says on the Insolvency Register under your name.

My IVA was a six-year one and did NOT drop off either my credit reports or the Insolvency Register until the completion certificate was issued - and that was almost at the seven year point as GT fannied about so much.

    Hi Mug098,

I'm sorry to hear that the advice that you have been given when you contacted Experian has not been clear.

As Fermi has said an IVA with a completion date will be removed from your report automatically six years from the date the IVA was recorded.

If the IVA does not have a completion date it would remain on the report.

If your IVA hasn't got a completion date, then you would need to send us a copy of your confirmation of completion. We would then check with the Insolvency Service to ensure that it matched their records and update it.

    Kind regards
    Neil
