Fund raising advice

I raise money for the Alzheimer's Society and a few years back did a chocolate event. It was really popular, especially with women. Got a local chocolate cafe to demonstrate their wares and had a chocolate raffle. I would agree local businesses are much more generous than large ones. We have a very famous pasty maker near us and they are fantastic with pastry products!!!!! If you know anyone who works for a big company then they can advertise for you. I work in the NHS so they placed an advert in our local newsletter and lots of my work colleagues attended.
Currently sell craft items with a friend to raise money. Put the word round and you will find people will want to help in any way. There are lots of generous people out there. Food is definitely a good one. What about a posh afternoon tea event? Some venues will let you have them for free if it is mid week.
Don't know much about crowd funding ,but would appear to be a possibility.
Good Luck

Husband and son have decided to do a sky dive
I have a different view about sponsored skydiving.fairy_lights wrote: »I think your husband and sons skydive idea is lovely but they can be expensive, you don't want to end up spending more on the cost of the skydive than you raise through sponsorship.
I've read about people being seriously injured and wouldn't sponsor anyone to do it on principle.
Also, I would rather sponsor someone to do something that didn't cost a shed-load of money to do.
If they haven't already signed up to do it, maybe canvas friends and family about their views.
Sorry if I sound negative, just wanted to tell it from my perspective.

I've seen the documentary where this treatment was shown to have fantastic results.. I trul wish you well in your campaigning.
There seem to be a lot of pub quiz type events here to raise funds with raffles, auctions etc.. Old fashioned stylee tea parties with cake sales are popular too. Car washes, car boots, garage sales, jumble sales, tea dances, barn dances, sponsored events, head shaves/silences/yoga/dance/exercise/cycle rides. Then also things like offering services such as decorating, knitting, gardenning, ironing etc .. £X with profits going to fund raising.

If this one is anywhere near you, it's the one we use at work. Haven't lost anyone yet, although one of my colleagues was utterly traumatised by the experience, still in shock (cold and shaking) 3 days later. Definitely in the 'never again' camp (and I am fortunately excused on medical grounds!)£199 to sky dive (each), as one example, they both know the risks, the money is coming out of their pocket, same with anything i need to buy for fund raising it comes out of my pocket.

Hi, I think there may be a charities and fundraising board on here so you .at find useful ideas on there.
I like the 50:50 ones so you sell squares on a grid of say 10 x 10 for say 1 pound each and then you randomly pick a number. Whoever picked that square wins half the money, you get the other half. Always seems like a good idea to me.
Good luck
