Car insurance business use?

Hi I have worked in the insurance sector for a number of years and have just left due to childcare reasons. Standard motor policies tend to be for social, domestic and commuting, that is commuting to one place of work. If you are going to different sites and meetings etc then you need class 1, if you are say you are buying stock from a cash and carry but not selling it from car you need class 2 if you are a commercial operation say collecting money from clients and attending functions like roadshows and selling goods you need class 3 commercial. Class 1 business and class 2 business just tend to go under the umbrella of business use - so as long as you told your insurer and each job has it's own coding on systems that can identify which classification suits unless it's class 3 then it needs specialist commercial insurance. That is why job titles are so important and shouldn't be rehashed as each one has it's own code and usually any information keyed incorrectly could invalidate insurance. Hope this helps0
