Thermal Surveyor - North West

Afternoon,
My sister wants to investigate possible causes for her house feeling cold and wants to commission a thermal survey - the ones where they take photos with thermal imaging camera to find areas of heat loss.
Can anyone recommend any companies in the North West (or even nationwide) to do this?
Thanks
Rich

I believe this is the wrong approach. A reasonable Building Surveyor or a Clerk Of Works could identify issues without needing a camera. It is all fundamental, common sense, items. For example, what windows are fitted, how well are they fitted., what roof insulation is fitted, is there cavity wall insulation, can internal insulation be fitted and so on.
Hope this helps.0 -
As furts says you wont need a surveyor yet. Figure out what insulation is fitted and how windows and doors are fitted and then look at what can be done to improve things. Once you have done all you can, then you can look at a surveyor to eke the last gains out of any insulating/draught proofing.0

Knowing that insulation is supposed to exist is different from knowing whether the insulation is working. Insulation is extremely sensitive to the quality of the install. So there is still a case for thermal imaging.
But I agree, best to start with understanding "best case" heat loss given current elements of the fabric.
You can get £10 IR probes from ebay which do the same thing as a £250+ IR camera but are obviously far harder to use (you don't get a global picture, just the point the probe is pointing at). But worth it for a try, e.g. tracking the probe across a ceiling to see where loft insulation is missing. These make BIG differences.
The other thing is air leakage.0
