It makes no difference against whom you make the claims.
It makes a difference depending on who accepts liability..

So you cannot now get these incidents removed from your record.
    Sure

But your point you wrongly keep making is that these notifications should be removed!
I am not making any point about having notifications removed with my insurers, just that the information needs to be updated.

BTW, my insurers now said they also no longer see no claim for the first incident, so this will be closed as well. And before you misinterpret, yes, it will be on some record and considered for renewals and new business! :)
  • IMO all you need to do is shop around on renewal, and forget about the two incidents.
Thanks, absolutely what I will be doing once my current insurers update my record! :) Renewal is very soon, so they could have dragged their feet...
  • My insurers claims department promised they would close both claims no fault within the next five minutes.

What should I expect in term of premium for renewal? Wife and I had 20 years plus no claims. Changes I can see since last year:
    - the car is the same but one year older
    - had two no fault incidents, one dealt with by the third party insurers, another no damage paid for nor outstanding (this fail to stop by the third party case is being processed by the police, plenty of evidence and witnesses).

With one case closed no fault, one disputed liability, they were proposing to roughly double the premium at renewal.

No-one can guess what your policy renewal offer will be.

But don't renew is the MSE advice.

Shop round for the best deal at renewal time.

You can get a good idea of what your premium is likely to be doing dummy quotes now online.

I am clearly inclined to not renew even even before getting quotes. There is confusion in the helpdesk and the renewals teams at my insurers. They still have not updated the premium based on the two claims being closed non fault. They say one is set to non fault but open and the other one is still liability disputed. I told them multiple times that for the later there is nothing that could be claimed as my car is now fully fixed. Could they stretch this for two weeks?

We have two cars with these insurer. I will give it a day and then go open with the insurers involved.

Admiral was the insurer of the other party that dealt with the damage in my car swiftly. They clearly deserve praise, made the whole experience as simple as possible. If it was for my insurers, I could still be waiting.

    .
Instruct them that you are happy to cancel the first claim.

And make sure they are aware that liability won't be disputed over the second claim as you have had your repairs dealt with fully by the third party insurers.

Insurers are slow to get through their piles of papers, so ask them when you can expect all this to be finalised (2 weeks to close a claim isn't out of the ball park!)

Just in case it helps others....

We now have new insurance for around £40 cheaper than the renewal we were offered. Swiftcover, our current insurer, was considering two claims and being slow to close the incidents. Chaucer when explained, understood it was only one claim no fault, so I took them, despite not being the best price overall. :)

For an accident that I had no fault, I had my premium going up by 40% + hassle.

    Only one claim?

Should be one claim, linked to an incident and another/a second incident

I explained exactly what happened in both cases, and Chaucer insurance said that in what matters to them, there is only one claim. They ignore notifications of incidents where there was no loss, which makes a lot of sense to me.

I eventually got some information from the police, thought after a year it would be worth pursuing. The hit and run event that I was a victim of went to court.
Still the court case did not go ahead.
The defendant did not attend since he is in prison...
Imagine if I had hoped this would resolve my insurance premium charges, etc. :-)
