Saga car insurance

Options
Having done all the site comparisons for car insurance saga came out best, must be me age:o
The only issue I have in going with them is hearing about my no claims being capped and taken back to four years, I have 13 at the moment.
Can anyone confirm this or have I got my info wrong.
I dont really want one cheap year then jump up next next year if I then go elsewhere.

Different companies offer different max discounts. They will still note your 13 years on your application, as that is the number of years you have built up.

Keep a copy of the no claims discount proof you are sending, just in case at some point Saga are reporting what their max is, rather than the actual years you have. It does happen and you then have to ask for a no claims proof letter from Insurers.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

Where do you get the 4 years from?
I am insured with Saga for the first time this year just looked at my documentation which states 9 years NCD.

I think its when you have your renewal quote off them the following years much like Aviva 5 yrs.
Ive read a lot of people are not happy when leaving these two companies, having less years recorded on the renewals than they have a had previously.

Their policy booklet says 9 years NCD will increase to 10 with no claims in the year - so definitely not capped at 4.
  • My problem with saga is when they send the renewal quote it does not state the number of years no claim, just the %.
So if you want to change insurer you have to ask them to send another letter confirming the years and hope it is the same as that told over the phone.
This of course adds extra stress to the switch process as the new insurer normally has a limited timescale to receive the information.
  • Saga provide some useful features that others either don't or charge an arm and a leg for... Such as unlimited European cover at no extra cost... It might not be something you are interested in, but many retired folk like to travel and most insurances limit you to 30 days or so. They also provide 2 year "new for old", or GAP cover, for new cars.
