HSBC Credit Card problem

Hey everyone , I hope you are all well!

A few minutes ago I created an account on this forum as I need an advice in terms of a credit card which I had the pleasure to have a few years ago at the bank HSBC.
Card belonged to a bank account which for many years had in this bank.
Few years ago I closed the account expecting that the credit card will also be canceled.
Unfortunately it has never been cancelled that I found out just today when I created an account with Experian to check my credit score.
Experian shows that I don't owe any money and my situation seems fine but the card has never been cancelled and turns up as one of my credit accounts / loan.
I don't have the bank account or credit card details anymore so I am not able to call them and provide any of them to cancel it now.

What can I do? Is there any chance to send them a letter with a copy of passport & other details like address or DOB etc and get it sorted?

Looking forward to hear your advices,
Thanks a lot in advance to everyone,
Bart

Credit cards do not normally 'belong' to bank accounts and there is therefore no reason why the credit card should have been cancelled when you closed your HSBC account.
I suggest that you call them and explain the situation, either to ask for a replacement card to be issued so that you can start using it again or otherwise to request that the credit card account be closed. They should be able to trace the account.
If they are unable to trace the account and offer no advice on how to proceed, then write to them giving your name, address (address at the time you held the card of course) and your date of birth. I can see no need to send photocopies of personal documents at this stage.

HSBC will be able to find your account, and either resurrect it for you, or close it.
  • Thanks guys, I will send them a letter then, let's see what is going to happen next.
