US dollars in small amounts

Hello,
I'll be traveling to Kenya next week with work. From what I've read here and elsewhere, US dollars are the currency of choice.

I'll be leaving from Birmingham airport. Is it possible to preorder dollars to pick up at a currency place? Can I request small bills like ones and fives?

try www.travelex.co.uk you will need a visa card to prepay and may pay a bank charge depending on your bank. Rate will be better than if you turn up and buy.

I usually use ATMs when abroad with my Nationwide account. But I'm off to Prague on Monday and needed a small amount of currency to use on arrival. I found that Co-op travel are best for small amounts as they have no commission or flat fees. I also used them to give my daughter some US Dollars last time she went to America.

Just as a comparison, 2000 CZK were £54.03 in Co-op Travel, against a quote of £56.98 in Thomas Cook 100 yards away.

if you preorder, i doubt you'll get anyway of stating what currency you want..

go to this website https://www.no1currency.co.uk and see if there is a branch near you, they seem to have the best rate on the highstreet of anyone, including some of the collection/delivery places. My local one, I've always being able to state what denominations of notes i want..
