Delinquent account

Options
We use Welsh Water for our water supply and pay by direct debit. In April they had a system error and did not take the payment so they sent a letter of apology (still have) and readjusted the DD for the year. In August my Wife was removing some old DD's on line and removed the WW DD by mistake. We missed the payment but were unaware and received a letter(lost) from them some weeks later by which time a second payment had been missed. My Wife immediately rang WW and setup the DD again which was readjusted and everyone was happy. We received no correspondence and on the call were given the impression that all was fine.

I am about to be interviewed for a job which requires SC clearance(UK government) and this will require a financial background check so I checked my Credit rating on Experian and it is very poor as my WW account is classed as delinquent and has been since September. My Wife has phoned them and they have stated there is nothing they can do as we had three missed payments even though one was clearly their fault and they had never informed us that the missed payments would have an affect for the others.

Totally frustrated with them and now very worried that my new job will be gone which will potentially cost me thousands all for a debt that nobody told me I had.

We have asked Experian for advice and they are saying that only WW can sort it out but WW say we should ask Experian to sort it out.

Please, please help I am desperate,

Rob

Raise a dispute through Experian, stating that WW have told you to do so, which will get Experian to liaise with them.

Ultimately, the information is correct, however.

I believe it's CCJs and formal insolvency that shows on the security clearance checks, however I'm not 100% sure. A few missed payments won't be the end of the world anyway, at least now the account is up to date.

Assuming that Welsh Water continue to supply your water and you have been continuing normal payments since October(?) then on what basis can the account be considered to be delinquent as it clearly is not.
