Courier to collect item, but I am working all day

I ordered several frames from an online framing store and the whole thing has been a disaster from start to finish. First they forgot 5 items from my package, then the replacements were the wrong size, now that I've finally tried to frame the pictures the backing does not fit in the frame, and also I have noticed that there is glue all over the corners that will not come off.

I have requested to return, the framing company are a nightmare to deal with and have been rude the whole time.

They want to collect the items before they will refund me. But I am having an issue because I work during the week and they don't collect on Saturdays. They won't allow me to leave the item out (and I'd be wary of that as they seem like scammers to be honest) and I can hardly take it on the train to work, mainly because these things are huge and I don't think my company allows collection by couriers.

I'm at a loss for what to do. A day off work to wait in for a courier would cost me hundreds. And these frames cost over a hundred themselves. I'm totally at a loss. What are my rights? Can I request that if they need the item returned they collect it on a Saturday? I'm guessing not. Do I have to pay to return these items myself? It's going to cost a fortune.

Might not be what you want to hear, but things like this tend to work best when there is compromise on both sides. They've arranged a courier, that courier can only collect Mon-Fri (which isn't unusual).

Okay, if you perhaps had a delivery window of say 4 hours or less that would make things easier but it may not be possible, so...

    - Could you leave them with a friend/family member who can then deal with the courier

    - Can you send them yourself and have your postage costs reimbursed?

I've asked about reimbursing postage, they said no.

I don't have friends or family in my town.

I think I have to face I've just lost a load of cash. Ugh. I knew buying something for cheap was a bad idea. They even bullied me into not leaving them a negative review.

How do people with jobs deal with stuff like this? Are we just expected to spend our days waiting in for stuff all the time? I already lost £250 from waiting in for a delivery where they wouldn't let me pay for a Saturday delivery. It's so frustrating. /rant

No neighbours who might be home during the weekdays? Perhaps parents with young kids?

ETA: What about a drop off/collection point? Is that a possibility?
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride
