hi . I'm looking for some advice , I've been with tesco foundation credit card for a year on 10th march . and wondering how there increase works I've opted in for auto , but not heard anything do they email before 12 months? also do they do another credit check before the increase? as had a falling out with 3 mobile over a sim only and they have put a default on my account for £42 will this have a impact on my credit card ? never missed a payment always leave a balance so they get some interest as hoping this helps . current limit is £400 . thanks for taking time to read

I'm sorry to say that a default on your credit file is a significant problem. How you thought about trying to resolve this asap. At the very least get this settled on your file. Better try and get 3 to remove it if that's not too late. As for Tesco you could ring them. Although they might not credit check you for a limit increase they do receive monthly updates from Credit Reference Agencies that may include your default in due course.0

thank you . yeah trying to resolve this with 3 . and hopefully get it removed .0

I've held the Tesco Bank Clubcard Credit Card since April 2013 and have opted in for automatic credit limit increases.
However I've only ever had one in that entire time and was conducted by myself using Online Servicing.
What was the argument with Three over your SIMO contract if you don't mind my asking? Hope you get it resolved as a Default will remain on your account for at least six years otherwise. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -
it was a 12 month sim only contract . but i never checked the signal for my area . and turned out to be rubbish . so i called them to cancel and they would not let me . so i told them to shove it and canceled the dd i never heard a thing from them so i thought it was canceled till i checked my credit report and saw the default ,0

Cancelling a Direct Debit won't cancel an Airtime Agreement I'm afraid.
How long into the contract were you before you spoke to Three? It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -

You definitely won't get that default removed because you signed up to a contract and refused to pay!. It's not their fault you didn't check the signal.0 -

If I've read that correctly the default is only £42. Pay it and a month later it will be settled which will look a lot better.
They have no need to do a new credit search but they may well be reglarly checking. They have already searched and have your credit history and that will be automatically updated whenever there is a change or a lender reports.
Just because you have a default doesn't mean Tesco will know about it. Usually they will get to know about it when attention is drawn to you such as a limit increase or you miss a payment. I doubt very much that Tesco is checking all accounts every day.0 -
i know that now! but for nearly a year thought it was cancelled , i managed to get cars to find my file and paid it . so hopefully it will show as paid , and won't do anymore damage , as i am trying to build a credit rating ,0

Might be worth adding a notice of correction or explanation onto your file, which would put this episode into context. The episode will have some negative impact on your credit file, but this might be marginally reduced with an explanatory note assuming it goes to a human for review.0
