Cheap Way to be a Student

Is there a cheap way in which I can be a student? I'm working with a number of students on a project and as part of it need access to a subscription service. All the students I'm working with have free access to it using their college email account, but I can't get on to it! It would cost me £1700/year and I'm thinking there's probably a cheaper way just to be a student and get it free by virtue of that. Hopefully I won't have to go to too many lectures.
