Dominican Republic and medication

Hi, does anyone know what the official line is on taking co - codamol to the DR?

I have been told I need a long questionnaire to my doctor (flying with thomas cook), I flew with them last year to Greece and didn't get a form

Am I breaking the law taking co - codamol to the DR if I carry a copy of my prescription and the outer case with my name etc on?

thanks in advance

Each country has specific entry requirements for medication - you cannot compare an EU country (Greece) with the DR.

Have you spoken with Thomas Cook to get the name of the form? Or with the DR Consulate/Embassy, or the FCO?

Bear in mind that the consulate can control your entry to the Dominican Republic, but long before you get there you have to deal with Thomas Cook who control your entry to the plane. It's absurd I know, but if that's what they want then you might have to suck it up, they're totally covering their own backs so they don't get sued, but it's their ball so their rules.

That's the first time I've heard of an airline who examines, or takes any interest in, the contents of their passengers' bags. Security usually do that on departure, and I don't think they have much interest in non liquid medicines, then customs on arrival.

I've had my carry on baggage check by both BA and Virgin Atlantic on a couple of occasions. The VS checks were done when entering the departure gate area and the BA ones when leaving the departure area on the way down to the aircraft.
However, I agree that they weren't in the least bit interested in liquids or medicines, simply checking for sharp or pointed articles.

My wife took Co-Codamol (and lots of it) and also Imigran both tablet and injection form last year with no problems and flew Thomas Cook. No one asked anything at all.
We have both tablets in carry on and also in hold luggage - injections just in hold.

I guess the worst that can happen is that they take it off me and I can't take it?

First of all, Bluenosean's comments are very misleading, as I tried to point out. Thomas Cook are not going to be checking your bag for illicit medicine before you board, so ignore what they 'want', it's just some kind of general advisory.

Take your medicine, your prescription, and if you want to reassure yourself print and take the email from Aralis Rodr!guez.

You will not get into any trouble and the chances of anyone even bothering you about it, including the Dom Rep authorities, is minimal. Don't worry and enjoy your holiday.
