It is quite possible they have an internal system with 3 years of records and a longer archive not visible to frontline staff which requires the account number to find it.
Financial data is kept as long as reasonably necessary as per the DPA. 6 years is a common rule of thumb. With the account being closed in 2007 there is a fairly good chance they have deleted it. Your only option is to send a DSAR which will cost you £10 if you don't believe they have any records left.Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Thank you for your advice. Do you know where I would get a DSAR from?0

It's just a form, don't worry
See link below for a template, send payment for £10 and get free proof of postage from a post office, don't bother with signed for, businesses often don't bother signing for mail when they get thousands of letters, proof of postage is deemed sufficient in these matters and any letter sent first class is deemed delivered 2 days later

What you can get back doesn't have to be in human friendly format mind you and you may just get copies of screen prints but hopefully will have the numbers you needSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
