Hello,
My switch to First Direct from HSBC has happened today. All seems to have gone smoothly except that my old account is still active. I just logged into it to find a balance of £13.00.
I'm hoping it'll sort itself out but wondered if anyone know why this is?

Was your switch due to be completed today? Mine has just transferred the balance of my old account over to FD today and my old account is still open so I imagine it will close tonight. Saying that, when I checked first thing this morning the old account had a balance on it but when I checked a couple of hours ago it had been moved across.0

Yes, it was due to happen today. I know it started because I tried to use my old card this morning and it was declined! And the majority of my balance (and all standing orders / direct debits) have been transferred... it's just this strange £13.00 left!0 -
As above all has been transferred across today. I expect to see my old bank closed tomorrow0

Were you paying any fees for your old account? It could be to cover that?
Otherwise, just keep an eye on it over the next couple of days. It should be transferred over when the account is closed if not call FD and bring it to their attention.0 -

Nope no fees or anything like that. Very strange...0 -
Could it be a recent debit card payment which hasn't yet cleared but has been 'earmarked' for payment, so not available to be transferred?0

Maybe... but I can't think of anything I have that is £13.00... and wouldn't it just all shift over to the new account... I've just emailed HSBC and FD and will see what they say...0 -
my account is due to move from HSBC to FD today also. I've had a transfer of about 40% of my account moved to FD but the other 60% is still currently at HSBC. Very odd.kicking squealing gucci little piggy.0
