I have gone into System restore and have only found dates in 2016 as restore points. I want to find a restore point somewhere in the last quater of 2015. How do I go about finding this and then running system restore at that earlier date.

Assuming that you clicked on 'Show more restore points', you may not have any from then. It would depend on the amount of disc space you allocated for restore points. As the space is used the older points are overwritten AFAIK.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

What operating system? If it's Vista the procedure/facility is crap.“Learn from the mistakes of others. You can never live long enough to make them all yourself.”

As RR says there may be no earlier ones.
Just for clarity - why would you need to go so far back? It's a system restore not a full restore which will resurrect old user data it's only Windows and installed software that gets checkpointed.0
