Need a TV & unit solution

We're not long into this house, we opened up the blocked up fire place and added in a wood burning stove.

Only starting to think about a new tv, units etc.

The position of the stove and hearth is quite close to the corner, so it means that the tv unit shown below is not feasible, catches on the curtains, gets in the way and is a bit untidy.

I would like to get a more modern, lighter TV and mount it on the wall in this corner.

What can I do with the limited space I have to store my free sat boxes, cables etc?

Any pitfalls I should be worried about?

I assume the wall at the fireplace is brick. If so, a basic swivel mount for the TV would allow you to put the TV over the corner, then you can look for a shelving solution for all the kit, that doesn't require space for the TV, and can sit 'square' in the corner. IKEA is hard to beat for the amount of range they have. You can 'route' the wall to hide lots of cabling too if you want, or you can get channels for them, and even paint them to hide them as well as possible.

I would put a swing arm wall mount near the corner for the tv with a unit below for the av equipment, or put a mantle above the fire and use a tilting mount, mounted above the mantle with all of the AV equipment to either side of the fire.

Cheers, the swing arm appeals with it being adjustable, not sure on heights and angles etc.

Are there loads of variation in these for different tvs, or are they mostly universal now?

They're all universal, just make sure you get the right Vesa size.
