Why did you switch if you did not know if they were cheap?!
What made you switch to Ebico? Did you do a comparison based on your annual KWH use for gas and/or electricity?
Only that will tell you if they are cheap for your particular usage pattern.0 -

Yes i did compared to my current supplier Edf and it came out to be cheaper that is why i switched. its £100 cheaper. but dont know how it is yet and when they take first direct debt?0 -
They're unlikely to take a payment before they start supplying you. Try asking them. https://ebico.org.uk/contacting-ebico/0

I used KWH0 -
Cool, just checking.
Whatever you do, do not cancel the EDF direct debit. If there is a cross over, just let them take it and then once the account is closed, request a credit back. If you cancel the EDF DD too early, this could cause issues.
Some companies take an upfront payment and can depend on your credit history. To check, as Norman Castle says, ring ebico to find out if and when they would take a payment form you. As the switch is only two days old however they will probably not have your account even set up yet.
I would still expect EDF to take payment on the 1st march anyway as switches take 2-4 weeks to complete.0 -
I am with ebico and mine took about 4-5 weeks to complete if you not sure contact SSE as they deal with the accounts/billing and customer service, if you contact ebico they will just contact SSE so earlier to go direct imo0

Some do, so it is important to read the Supplier's Terms and Conditions. For example, GBEnergy take the first DD payment 21 days after the date of application, and Ovo take the first DD in advance of supply. Zog was 13 days after the switch date. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

In line with the terms of the DD scheme, you will be advised in advance of when they will take the first DD, how much and at what intervals (every calendar month)
This information will come from SSE (who supply the tariff you have requested)
Unless you were given the option of choosing your collection date on signing up, assume you will not be given that option.
No you cannot choose how much or how little you want to pay. Initially the cost will be based on 1/12th of the anticipated annual cost based on the information you provided (which may need to be corroborated with another source)0 -

Unlikely, unless you are an extreme low user, in which case I would suggest you opted for pay on receipt of bill (or at least pay quarterly by DD) which all costs the same with Ebico.
That way you only pay for what you have used (assuming you provide a meter reading)
Otherwsie, expect SSE to to overcharge you (in the monthly DD amount) as they won't believe you are using so little.0
