Do speed bumps affect house values?

The LA is proposing putting speed bumps on our road, I *think* I am all for it BUT one of the proposed speed bumps is outside our house and I was wondering if this would have an impact on the value of our house either negatively or positively?

Additional info:
*semi detached, small 3 bed semi.
*Front garden, no drive- we park on the pavement outside, the speed bump shouldn't cause an issue with this as it hasn't on other streets.
*Side street but longish and wide so people do drive down it quite quickly, though it isn't a cut through.

Thanks

Might have an effect, but I doubt it would be noticable. As long as parking is ok.

Personally, I see speed bumps and immediately regard the neighbourhood as a bad area, plagued by car crime and anti-social behaviour. Add to that impression the annoyance of people who actually slow down for these, and then accelerate away from them. With one outside the house then you will have to live with the noise of cars accelerating and added exhaust pollutants in the air.

I don't think that having a speed bump outside of your home will lower the value of your home, but it would put some people (ie me) off viewing.

Not sure about effect on value.
But it will create noise for you - one, the sound of the cars hitting it and their suspension compressing etc; two - the cars accelerating away from your bump.
A future buyer extremely sensitive to noise could be deterred, but a future buyer particularly opposed to speed to could attracted.

The only thing I think when I see a road with speed bumps is "I hope there's an alternative route". A road with a 30 mph limit and speeds bumps that make you slow down to 10 mph...lots of sense in that!

I shouldn't be, but I always end up surprised at what I read on the internet!

I would say this only applies if by "car crime and anti-social behaviour" you mean "drivers going too fast". I've certainly never noticed any correlation with other crime.

Hearing cars accelerating and braking would drive me mad.

At a guess, I would think out of 100 people 50 people would see it as a negative, 40 wouldn't care, and 10 would say it is a positive.
Well life is harsh, hug me don't reject me.

Christ, now we have someone who has done a poll on their opinions of speedbumps!

Why would you think there is a 5:4:1 split on speedbumps? Have you ever actually asked a person in real life?!
