Wasn't sure where to put this ...
I've looked but can't find a definitive answer for this - how do I cancel a job in peopleperhour?
I've been working with someone to create a logo and now it's got to the end and they've invoiced me but the final design is not what I agreed. I seem to be going around in circles saying the same things to this person and still they've delivered something I didn't want. An integral part of the design is missing.
How do I cancel? I'm assuming I can do this if they've not delivered what was agreed?

The name peopleperhour suggests to me that you are paying for someone's time.WeAreGhosts wrote: »Wasn't sure where to put this ...

They have spent some time on your project.
You now need to pay them for the time spent.
Or is that being a bit over-simplistic?0 -
As I recall with PPH a dispute or cancellation request can be raised via the workflow manager.
However as above, the logo designer will expect to be paid for their time thus far.0 -

I think like any other trader on an hourly rate, chalk it up to experience and move on.
Next time maybe try 99designs, I like that site as you put people against eachother to do the best design and just pay for your favouriteHello There. :beer:0 -
You should be able to raise a dispute via the workflow, as your monies should now be in escrow with PPH. You must be seen to have given the designer an opportunity to amend the project. You must also be seen to have written clear instructions as to what you wanted, and explain why this is not what you've received. If any of this hasn't happened then PPH will award the money to the freelancer for their time.

As someone with experience in the creative/design market myself, I really don't see how this site benefits anybody except themselves and the client. Seems to me like the designer gets the crappy end of the stick (which as the client you may not care about, but I think it's highly unfair).
For example, just looking at a "contest" from one of their main pages; https://99designs.co.uk/logo-design/contests/abstract-geometric-sophisticated-logo-modern-start-up-medical-589234
It would seem from what I've read the designer only gets paid if they're chosen as the winner...
So 171 designers spent time and effort creating several logos for nothing?davidjlewis129 picked a winning design in their logo design contest. For just £529 they received 809 designs from 172 designers.
On principle alone and respect for the designer I'd certainly choose a different marketplace as I think 99designs is incredibly unfair - I'd imagine an awful lot of designers enter these "contests", spend a considerable amount of time drafting out a logo to the clients design spec (which then can't be re-used elsewhere) and ultimately end up getting paid sweet Fanny Adams with only a slap in the face and waste of time to show for their effort.0 -
i used them in the past, but recently they have been cancelling my posts after i had deposited funds therefore not allowing me to get the jobs done and will not refund the money that i deposited just for the work to be done.
then when i try and get another job done it does not pass moderation! and guess what, yes , they are still holding my money.
this is not a company that can be trusted, it is a company to avoid.
i will be taking legal and media action against this company.0
