Divorce without sorting finances

Is it possible or advisable to file for divorce prior to sorting out pensions? We separated in Sept 2013 and now I feel the time has come to get divorced. Financially we have sorted out everything apart from our pensions.
I'm sure he has more pension than he is declaring to me and I am unsure how to go about sorting this out. Can I deal with this at a later stage if we get divorced first?
TIA
