Free logo/design software

Does anyone know where I can design a logo and obtain vector files for free? I keep going on the "free" sites via google and when I've finished my design they want me to pay loads.
I really don't have the budget to pay a lot and I have to do my own web design so if anyone could recommend a site I'd be very grateful

I use gimp for my graphics on the computer and medibang for Android devices. Can't help with vector files though as I've never actually needed them for our logo and had no problems converting to various file types as and when needed so far.0

If you've got a smart phone there's a free app called Logo Maker. That's what I use to make mine.0

Not free but cheap, check out Fiverr.com loads of logo design services with vector images from just $5, approx. £3.83 each. There are lots of different bits on this site0

I paid £15 for a graphics designer on peopleperhour.com to make me a bespoke logo. i gave them a brief of my company, suggested colours and type of logo (text, image, letters, etc) and they provided 3 initial designs. From that we tweaked the designs and got an ideal solution.
Much better than faffing about by yourself if you are not experienced on those tools.0 -

Try Inkscape if you want to edit vectors - creates and works natively in SVG (which are just files of vector definitions, and can be used as paths in GIMP or natively rendered in browsers)0
