Indoor aerial questions..

Hi,
I've just connected my indoor aerial to my computers new TV card (it supports analogue and digital), it's found all 5 analogue channels, and digital channels, but the quality is pretty poor.
Right now I've put the aerial on the table, as can't really put it any higher, but it has a big panel on it and 2 antenna kind of things either side, both are straight and not extended at all, and the flat panel is facing in about a 45 degree angle...
I was wondering how I can find out how the best way to face the panel, and antenna (and how much to extend them)..
My post code is LE2 3JU if that helps.
Thankyou!

Easiest is go outside and look at your aerial on the roof;)
Technical details can be found here: http://www.wolfbane.com/cgi-bin/tvd.exe?DX=L&HT=10&OS=LE2+3JU0 -
As QQaver says, look outside and see where the other aerials are pointing. Then put the aerial by a window looking in the same direction. That will give you the best reception you are going to get with an indoor aerial.
Every location is different but in most places it is likely that you will need a proper outside aerial. That's how the TV transmission networks were designed.0 -
Do you guys know how much it would roughly cost then to have a new aerial cable put into a different room? The current aerial on roof is fine, but I need wiring done for a different room.. There is actually an aerial socket on the wall of that room, but it won't work for some reason (no channels come up)... Then again I haven't used the rooftop aerial in a while, the room with the main tv uses NTL.
Thankyou.0 -

It's very difficult to say.
For example if there is a cable from the socket you want to use to the loft and the cable from the aerial comes into the loft it wouls just be a matter of connecting the two with the appropriate connectors.
On the other hand if there is no cable to the socket you have quite a major job on your hands.0 -
I got two quotes recently to have a aerial fitted and two companies said they charge £45 per room as we wanted feed in each bedroom, so we had 4 rooms and two aerials which were split.Do you guys know how much it would roughly cost then to have a new aerial cable put into a different room? Or you could do it yourself for next to nothing and just run some co-ax down from your loft.0

Put a wideband high gain aerial in your loft and use genuine double screened coax. Ordinary "low loss" coax simply isn't up to the job.0
