Rac check- finance outstanding

Help lovely people.
Just put down deposit on a used car. Came home and done rac vehicle check and outstanding finance came up. Lombard special schemes company came up.

The sales assistant mentioned that finance was there but was paid off.


What letter, document do I have to obtain to cover myself against loosing that car.

Just wanted to add that I am buying from EMG car dealer who seems to have few branches. Would buying from dealer protect me? Or paying on credit card?

As a dealer i always phone hpi up to confirm this finance is cleared.
Maybe as a private individual you can phone lombard up citing your reasons for call,ive paid finance off before now and not even got a confirmation letter off some finance houses,so dont hold your breath mind
