Hope your cat isn't too unwell.

Oh , Macius is absolutely fine, he has no idea there is anything wrong with him, just wobbly cat but that does not stop him doing whatever he wants to do ..

Hope your cat improves and stops trying to kill you xx

Your cat reminds me so much of one I had. Sooty was what I used to call a real tom cat - he loved being outside & was forever bringing home dead mice, birds & rabbits! I never could work out how on earth he got the rabbits home over 6 foot fences & then through the cat flap!!

He would leave his presents under the kitchen table and woe betide anyone who tried to take them away. He would growl like a dog , hiss & lash out lol. But he was just like your cat. Touching him was strictly on his terms only & he would be quite happy on my lap one minute & biting me the next. He used to lie & wait under a chair then pounce as I came past & grab my ankle - scratching and biting at the same time. He often used to fly out of nowhere to attack.

I'm sure it was his way of playing & interacting (he did have toys and attention when wanted). Despite all this we loved him dearly & he did calm down once he reached the age of about 8 lol.

He was also very loyal & used to come with me to take my daughter to the bus for school & pick her up after school. We walked from our house through the churchyard & he would always stop at the end of the churchyard path and wait.

One day I dropped my daughter off as usual & carried on up the street to get some shopping . Then went home a different way. Lunch time came & I thought it was strange that Sooty hadn't come home for lunch. Then about an hour later I realised I'd come home a different way & that he would still be waiting for me! Sure enough, there he was at the end of the path in the bushes patiently waiting 5 hours later!! I called him & he came trotting home with me.

Cats are funny creatures aren't they? Sooty lived to the grand old age of 19 & moved to the Netherlands with my daughter when he was about 13. He was her cat & she chose him when she was 5. They had a strong bond those two. She was devastated when she had to be pts.

Oops sorry, just noticed I've written an essay!!

Our previous cat managed to get a large fat squirrel home, through the cat flap, and upstairs into our sons bedroom - twice! He didn't appreciate finding dead squirrels under his bed!
  • OP, we had a cat that responded in much the same way. The time came for his annual jab and I mentioned his behaviour to our vet. He smiled and told me that 'all cats were psychotic' and to google 'biting and petting syndrome' for tips. Apparently, the vet's cat was the same :)

My cat used to bring his catches home and as soon as he'd got my attention to say 'Good boy' he ate them.
Voles took about 30 seconds, rats about 2 minutes.

He once brought a headless rat (he started with the head) to the back door & left it on the back step because I wouldn't let him bring it in.
He had a mouthful of food then demanded to go out again.
    SHOCK! HORROR!
He'd been robbed. The look on his face was comical. :rotfl:

Owlet - what a beautiful story.

The thing I love about cats is their untameability, but hairy cat takes the biscuit. he does bite when he wants attention I've now found. He is quite wild at heart - which I do love, but don't like the attacks which he's not done so much as it's been really dry - although freezing cold & snow - intesresting to see his paw prints & track the wee boggers movements.

Can I just warn you please to be very, very careful. I had the most gorgeous, friendly, lovely natured and clever cat. One night whilst I was asleep he mistook my finger twitching (I think) for a mouse or something and bit it. The tip of one of his teeth broke off in my knuckle - long story short I got septecemia(sp) and had to have 3 lots of surgery on my finger. During the last surgery I had a heart attack. I spent 3 weeks in hospital and almost lost the finger. (Heart attack the day before my 60th birthday - nightmare!!)
The doctors said that a cat bite can be one of the most dangerous bites you can have so, do take great care if your cat bites you. Don't wish to be a scaremonger but......
I still loved the cat though and kept him although he has since, sadly, passed away.

Yes, that does sound really bad.

He bit a BT engineer today - I did warn him about the cat, but he didn't really mind!

When is he going to graduate to the postman? :rotfl:

Which reminds me - my old boy (mentioned above) was driven crazy by any post coming through the door,
His ears would go back, he'd race to the door and try to get the letters before they dropped. He'd then skid about on them along the hall carpet.

    I miss the little oik.

He's just been across the fields with me - eyeing up the big ram. He's a bit too big for his boots!
Least it tires him out & he thunders down the track like a mad thing.
