Moving house - best time to apply

Hi there,

I'm currently in the process of moving home, and could do with a new interest free credit-card to fund some improvements to the property in the short-term.

I am not selling my old place, just converting it to buy-to-let.

Would it be possible to apply for a new credit-card now, at my existing address and be successful? Would any of the following cause a problem:

1. existing debt on two other credit cards
2. two recent credit searches for mortgage applications for new house and re-mortgage of existing property
3. any knock-on effect on completion of mortgage (I have been told to clear all outstanding credit card debt before completion)

Thanks,

Rob.

Yes. If you change the address your chances will get lower.
    and be successful?
    How can anybody know?

In general, the answer is YES on all three counts.
  • OK, what I'm thinking if wait until completion; then apply, but at my current property (which I will still own, but on a BTL) before I update electoral roll records to new property and physically move.

    Would this likely work?
