Barclays started trialling providing banking services inside Asda stores some years ago. Whether this is the longer term direction of retail banking only time will tell.

GOOD. They need to shut them all down. the staff in them are dreadful. They make the staff in the post office look like cheeters.

    What a strange post.

They don't care. It's all about saving money so they can make more profit.

The local Barclays now run a 4 day week and it does make you wonder what's next. Of the accounts that I use, only one has a branch in the next town. None of the others with branches have any great appeal.

I wish they would combine/merge Lloyds and Halifax branches. I have a Halifax account but the nearest branch is a Lloyds (an account I'm sceptical about getting as it seems it might lead to getting evicted from the entire group for abusing the facilities.) The Halifax went a while ago.

BOS branches tend to be fairly busy. They service BOS customers, Halifax customers and also Lloyds customers from England/Wales.

This is just recycled news to be honest.
    It's no surprise.

On a recent visit to Edinburgh I could not believe how many Bank Of Scotland branches they had, practically one on each street corner.

Online banking is more popular, however branches seem to be the first port of call for their customers when things go wrong.

This would make sense for basic transactions such as paying in, withdrawing small amountsetc akin to the Post Office with actual branches being used for product applications, queries and non-standard requests.
  • Thinking of transferring to Club Lloyds account. Does anyone know if you can withdraw cash at a post office please. I can on my Barclays but no interest on this account.

My nearest NatWest branch is now only open for a few hours on a Monday and a Friday. Yesterday morning the queue was out of the door and round the corner -mainly because many of the local shops use it for banking their takings -took about 15 minutes to pay in two cheques!!
The "parent" branch (about an extra 4 miles away) is open all week -but it is virtually impossible to park near it and its never busy when I call in -frequently there are 6 or 7 "backroom" staff sitting around in full view of customers -but they rarely have more than one position open !!
