Hi
Is there a timeframe ?
I have had a letter from Motability saying they will extend my currrent contract - due to expire May 31st if I don't have 12 months award left.
Should I contact them or wait ?

My mobility expired in mid March (care was indefinite) and I heard from the DWP about moving to PIP at the start of December so 3 and a bit months in advance. Now at the waiting stage having had a face to face assessment.
If you want to send away letters from doctors or therapists I'd start asking for them now as the timelines for returning the claim form are so tight I wasn't able to get any on time to send with the claim.0 -
Once the process has started, as long as you conform to any time scales given, your DLA award will be extended if necessary. It will continue until 4 weeks after the PIP decision has been made, whatever that decision is.0

I wouldn't call them because as above, your DLA will keep going until the end of the process as long as you stick to their timelines. Generally the application starts with a letter asking you to make a phone call, then they send out the application form and once they have that most people get a face to face interview/medical before a decision gets made.
Along the way if you have given the dwp your mobile number in the past you'll get text messages reminding you to make the call, post back the form and an acknowledgement when the form is received.0
