spoke to my brother tonight and he's also been a victim of the tesco upgrade mess! wonder how many of us there are in total?
  • I too have been upgraded when I never asked to be, and have now been told there is no way of re-opening my old account, even though I never rang and verified the new platinum card they sent me, as I thought that if I didn't I could keep my old card. I missed out on nearly £100's worth of points yesterday as I found my card had suddenly become non valid and had to pay on a debit card instead. At the very least, if people had not verified their new cards, they should have been informed that Tesco were suddenly going to stop their old cards, I feel very sorry for those people abroad, nightmare.

This is a real pain if you do a lot of online shopping like I do as my card number is registered on loads of sites, and now I have to change all the card details.

And I don't want a Mastercard, I'd much prefer VISA, and would question how this new platinum card is an upgrade if it's now Mastercard and doesn't give as many benefits and isn't accepted in as many places as VISA.

The whole system where we should have rung to opt out is wrong, it should have been the other way round.

OK so it's now over 2 weeks since Tesco 'actioned' an emergency card to be couriered to us.
Still it hasn't arrived, so I rang Tesco (yet again! That on-hold music ....argh!) to be told that SMS Couriers had delivered it on 4th September. No they didn't, as special arrangements our end were in place to receive the card ALL WEEK.
So now what, in this farcical saga? Tesco are going to have to cancel those cards and start a reissue process. So we wait a further few days...and are once again at the mercy of SMS Couriers...so who knows if we'll ever get our cards?

We got our cards at last. Guess what? They were to go to my parents' address - signed for... instead the courier posted them to our address - no signature.

 it's a good job I wasn't relying on them arriving at my parents'....
