Food costs and recommendations in London?

Keep an eye on the group buying sites like Groupon and Wowcher as they often have eating out deals. The Tesco and Sainsburys metro stores do meal deals of a sandwich, crsips and drink and there is a place on the lower efloor at the Science Museum to eat a picnic.

Usually refrain from pies at the football as generally find they are 3 times more expensive than local shops not sure if this is the case in London too?

There is a Wetherspoons In Canary Wharf. Breakfast menu here;

It is only one stop on the tube from Canary Wharf to North greenwich and lots of places to eat in the 02, depending on when you are going the Harvester do a £5.99 main early bird deal from 11.30am Mon-Friday.

You have to pay a £3 activation fee for a visitors oyster card or £5 refundable deposit for a normal oyster card, so if you have a contactless bank card it avoids paying this and having to top up as you go. Contactless bank card has the same daily cap.

That's the reason I just bought one, because it has a cap. I'm only there for two days so made sure I got the £20 one So have unlimited travel

Just come back from London, it's possible to pay a little or a lot for just about everything. For instance hotel breakfast at a central 4* might be £25, but have a chain restaurant next door doing a £6 breakfast, or a 'greasy spoon' nearby where you can get a breakfast far cheaper than my home city

The thing with London is that there are always so many choice that there is always a lot of competition at every price point. If you are prepared to look away from the obvious places then you can find just about anything you want at low prices.
