Cheap paving slabs wanted

Hi I wonder if anyone has seen any good deals on paving slabs of late? We have a ridiculously large patio to lay and I was hoping to find a bargain out there but seem to be struggling... Have looked at gumtree, ebay etc for used ones too but just can't find the volume as we need a minimum of 30sqm but ideally 50sqm
If anyone comes across anything, any help would be gratefully recieved!:o

I have no idea what they usually cost, but here's a large number of secondhand ones

Have you looked on local Freecycle sites?Life is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.0

Thank you for the replies, the West on super mare ones are just too far away as we d have to do a few trips.
I keep checking free cycle and gumtree but either miss them or there's not large enough quantities.
Obviously 2nd hand will be cheaper but if they can't be found then online seemed to be a minefield foe buying new ones!! Just can't find a good deal aarrgh! !0 -

The issue with slabs is always going to be weight. Someone has to carry the cost of transport, even if they're free. This means waiting until something comes up very close to home, but if you're in a rural area, that could be a long time!
Two years ago, I got 600 free matching roof tiles from a site about 7 miles away, but that was almost pure luck, as I live in the back end of nowhere. I say 'almost,' because if I'd not looked and seen them advertised in the local rag, they'd be in landfill now, like the rest. About 5 or 6 people responded to the ad, but guess how many turned-up? Yes, just me.
I have a big 3.5 tonne van, but it would still only carry 150 tiles safely. Each tile is probably about half the weight of a standard slab, so you can begin to get an idea of what you'll need to move 50m2 of paving.
Have you access to a lorry? If not, it might be cheaper hiring someone, or at least having them in mind should the right thing come up.0 -
If you want new slabs then I would be looking a your local Paving slab Manufacturers The difference between a merchant and slab manufacturers is that Your not paying a merchants cost outlay and % ontop of each slab you purchase.
There are Slab manufacturers dotted around on Industrial parks you just have to locate the ones that will deal with General Public and not just traders and builders. They should also deliver them also.
If you want used then heed caution. Many will come with snobs of cement on if this is the method of choice for laying them as apposed to being lay on a sand bed and mortar mix. If they survive a transit some are bound to break, then when chipping the jointing off some can crack and chip. Some maybe worn (high traffic area such a tables and pathways). Not saying don't take chance with second hand ones, I lay second hand ones last year in my garden, and i'm already thinking next year ill have to rip it out and buy a new one as It shows its age now its settled.0 -

I have just picked up 23 18" square riven slabs, quite old and a bit thick but ideal for a greenhouse path a slabs at the back for access. I have a Nissan Micra and I took 10 the first time and 13 the second and the journey was only a few miles and the car didn't struggle at all. To get the quantity you need, all matching, you will have to buy new as the work involved and additional materials you will need would make it a false economy to get old slabs.Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14
