Plusnet would be cheaper. The line rental saver is equivalent to 15.50 pm if she pays 12 months in advance and I think the anytime calls are about another £6 a month. Then there's the option for extras such as caller display if she wants them.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

You can swap to BT Home Phone Saver at £20.99 per month, including VAT, and the price is guaranteed until 2018.

The deal includes line rental, an unlimited number of Anytime calls to geographic numbers starting 01 and 02 and to non-geographic numbers starting 03 (as long as each such call is less than 60 minutes long), caller display, voicemail 1571 and several other features.

Calls to mobile numbers starting 071-075 and 077-079 are half price at 6p per minute instead of 12p per minute. The deal currently also has inclusive calls to 0845 and 0870 numbers.

One quick phone call can get you on this call plan and with no interruption in service.

Is there a reason she wants a landline? Could have a sim only mobile deal for £6 a month with 1500mins, then buy a Doro or TTfone handset for £30.

If you look for sim only on uswitch, Life mobile.

Its much cheaper than a landline.

That landline phone looks like it will only do 2g frequencies, be worth checking coverage and if the sim will work ok.

Its a shame these aren't cheaper.

This one has 2g and 3g.

Actually looking at this one now
3g doesn't matter because she just needs the phone GSM bit

If you go the mobile-only route, you'll need to inform all contacts about the change of telephone number. Some people may well be reluctant to call a mobile number
