First thing Monday morning I would be contacting a solicitor for advice.

Look for a solicitor that is experienced in contentious probate and can demonstrate a good track record in the field. Your average small town solicitor is unlikely to be experienced in such issues and could make a real hash of things.

Having had a few letters from a back water solicitor making noises about challenging a will (I'm the executor), a few choice words and high court references seems to have silenced him for now. Had he been a Legal500 solicitor with a reputation, I might have paid more attention to him...

found out my Dad died in 2012 last year. no probate done. cut a long story short did probate and checks for will. so then got about £9,5k back from the bank that my step brother had obtained from the bank using an indemnity form. also got £5.8k from a life insurance policy. also put Dads house in my name.

now the step brother has come up with a will hes been sitting on since 2012, and is about to get probate.

If the will existed when your Dad died, why didn't your step-brother show it at the bank instead of signing an indemnity form?
