Panasonic Domestic Microwave

Our microwave (Model: NN-CT559WBPQ) wont always turn in reverse. It goes one way stops, as it should, starts to reverse but stops. If I open the door and shove the plate, in any direction, it will turn but again on reverse it stops. On the inside of the oven, at the bottom, there is a plastic drive adapter that locates on the turn table plate to make it turn. I think this plastic device is probably broken. Looking on the web, the indications are that I should be able to take hold of this device and lift it out. I have tried, but I can't pull it off.
