My Emails and Folder; gone!

Options
On opening my live mail 2012 application, I have discovered that all my saved emails and associated folders are not there. The in box/sent box everything gone.
I contacted TalkTalk about this and as far I could tell, communication with their overseas teams is awful, they seemed to accept some responsibility and would investigate. Soon after, my in box was flooded with 1,970 emails. These dated back to 2014, all as far as my memory allows, I had previously. But they have not restored my missing sent emails, many of which are very important.
Question 1: Should my sent emails be on the TalkTalk server?
Question 2: Whenever I carried out a backup to my external hard drive , on completion , a message always appeared saying "emails not backed up". How can I include my emails in this process?

First check TalkTalk webmail (only accessible from your TalkTalk internet connection I believe). If you're using the talktalk smtp service then sent mail should be there. Then we can look at what you might have on your local computer.
If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.

I have a free program on my computer called mailstore home 8 which allows backing up of emails and is very handy for me as all my email is web based.
  • Have checked TalkTalk Web-mail. There, the "sent" box for mail is empty even though it is SMTP.
As previously, TalkTalk tell me, as recently as Sunday morning, they are investigating telling me I have been "escalated" to a higher fault finding team.

  • Hi Vicky.

I contacted TalkTalk about my missing emails on 15th Feb. Yes they seem to be trying do something. Everyday I receive a text message asking me to ring them. I spend at least 30 minutes answering the same questions that I supplied answers to the time before. Today I was told yes there is a "problem" with emails as they are changing the email system but there is not a "fault" as it is caused by "migration" and therefore the engineers can't repair it as there is no fault just a problem with emails???????
