broken gas ring switch/knob

Is it easy to replace?

There appears to be the knot, a spring and a collar. This switch which is on the hob top (rather than waist level) stopped working/turning after I cleaned the hob and switch panel.

So I levered the knot off to find a spring and collar. When I put it put on it still would work or turn. When it works you push down gently to turn and at the desired setting it pops back up.

How do I replace this?
Do I need a gas engineer?
Is there a way still to use this gas ring until it is fixed ? (ie turn it on somehow )

It's only a broken switch so thinking not worth changing the whole hob and oven... it is built in to my work top too

  • Hi,

Looks like you can purchase replacement knobs here: http://www.ransomspares.co.uk/parts/search/knob/baumatic/cookers-hobs/b180ss-b/b/c/m/

Maybe before purchasing a new one you could try swapping with a known working knob from one of your other rings?

Hopefully it is just a new part you need, they don't look too expensive.

    Good luck with it!
  • I used superglue on my gas ring knob which stopped working (at waist level).
