Here are the prices of ebay and autotrader - http://www.surewise.com/car-warranty/articles/cost-advertising-ebay-autotrader/
Is there way to say no to those fat cats? Are there places to advertise a car for free?

How about recording a hilarious video test drive of your car in the style of Top Gear, uploading it to You Tube, then sharing it to all of your social media friends and see where it leads. Take advantage of some viral marketing?0

gumtree is a fast seller“Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”

Facebook? Local groups may be viable.
Ultimately if you're after the best price and it's really not a complete dog then you may be better off paying for an ad. I really can't agree that £14.99 with Ebay is a "fat cat" price.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -

Stick it outside your house with a sign in the window. Costs nothing. If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0 -
gumtree has a lot more people using it these days. Give that a try. eBay is expensive and hardly anyone uses it for cars. If free doesn't get good interest pay autotrader.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

I sold my last car on gumtree. Took a while, and there are a lot of time wasters who don't turn up (like anywhere I suppose).
There is this "feature" on Gumtree, whereby you get what looks like a spam email, making an anonymous offer for the car, these amazingly are legit: people try to bid you down to see what you will take for it.
The other problem is I gave gumtree my spare 'phone number, and it now gets a couple of PPI or ambulance chaser calls a day, so don't give them your main 'phone number. (could be co-incidence I suppose....)I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

I've sold my last 3 cars on Ebay at a wide range of prices. All sold to the first buyer so I don't agree that hardly anyone uses it.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
