Removing glass mirror tiles

Hello, I have a row of 1ft square mirror tiles stuck to a bathroom wall above some ceramic wall tiles, the silvering has perished, so i want to remove them and fit more ceramic 6x6 plain tiles in their place...
Simple enough, I thought, as mirror tiles are usually fixed by double sided sticky pads in each corner, and you can actually see the mark they create where the silvering has corroded away.
However, the wall is plasterboard faced panelling, known as "Paramount" , I believe, about 1 and a half inches thick, and it seems the mirror tiles have been re-glued across their whole width with tile cement, so they don't want to come off at all.
I have tried prising them off with broad paint scrapers, all that happens is a corner of glass breaks, and small shards of glass fly everywhere!
Does anyone have a better suggestion, other than a bolster and lump hammer ?? I am hoping any damage to the plasterboard facing can be covered and hidden with the new tiles and cement.

Wood chisel, hammer and some eye protection, use a decent 4" scraper to scrape off the adhesive afterwards. Don't worry about making a few dents in the plaster getting them out.0
