  • Amazon marketplace or ebay are good bets. I agree that he should hold fire if poss - my uni had a bookshop stuffed full of the books last years students had given in for a lot less than rrp and even amazon. Also get him to check the library and the numbers of copies as I have some friends who have never need to buy books as they are doing less popular courses and the books are always in.
