As the above states I have bought a property and completed.
I have not signed a single legal document apart from my mortgage.
I never got a copy of the lease nor did I sign one.
Is this normal in conveyancing?
Thanks in advance.

that sounds unusual, as I remember on the two occasions i have bought property going into the solicitors office before exchange and completion and signing paperwork re completion and exchange, and before that completing property information paperwork.0 -

* why did you buy a property and hand over £X00,000 (presumably) without any idea what it is you are buying? (you say you've not seen the lease)
* did you use a solicitor?
* Are you sure you've Completed? How do you know?
* Did you ever see a contract (just didn't sign it)?
* did you buy off someone you know/trust (eg family)?
(note: if Eng/Wales you would not sign the lease unless it was a brand new one)0 -
So you've applied for a mortgage, been told you've bought something but got nothing in writing??
Sounds very much like you've been scammed: How much money have you put in?? Have you ever seen the place??
Do you have the keys???
Hope I'm wrong but....0 -
No. None of this is normal. Except for the buying a property bit.
Having said that, it's unlikely anything has gone too wrong, because if there is a proper mortgage involved, the solicitor will be on the panel of the mortgage company, and so guarding their interests at the very least.0 -
If you haven't singed or received any paperwork how do you know you've actually bought the house?0

* Which country is the property in? UK
* why did you buy a property and hand over £X00,000 (presumably) without any idea what it is you are buying? (you say you've not seen the lease)The lease is the same as mine.123 years remaining.
* did you use a solicitor? yes a well known one.
* Are you sure you've Completed? How do you know? Yes I'm sure I've completed as I have the keys and a telephone call telling me I have completed.Oh and I paid a 10% deposit on exchange and the balance on completion.
* Did you ever see a contract (just didn't sign it)? No I didn't see a contract until this morning.
* did you buy off someone you know/trust (eg family)? I bought it off a friend(no estate agent)
(note: if Eng/Wales you would not sign the lease unless it was a brand new one)
Sorry I just thought it a little strange I didn't have to sign anything.0 -
Didn't you see and sign the contract?0

Are you living in the house? Are you paying a mortgage? If yes to both, its probably fine, I reckon.0
