santander email + defaults

Options
I want to send them the email below does anyone know what the email is?

I have decided I don't want to send a letter as I dont want them knowing my current address, as I'm guessing they will ignore me and harass me with threats instead, but I gotta give them the benefit at first.

If the "closed date" is correct then it only had a year to run before it falls off my history so I suppose I'm not that bothered (how do you get Callcredit to list the account as closed?) I'm wondering whether to offer (after they have decided I do owe the money - my faith in banks is not high can you tell!) about £150 to close the account and remove the defaults. Id pay for this especially if I have to live with this for another 6 yrs!

Dear Santander,

I have recently started looking into applying for a mortgage, despite never having an issue with credit in the past, I have encountered a problem with mortgages.

I have looked into my credit history to discover that you are reporting an account as “defaulted”.

I am unaware of any account being held, or in the past even opened with you, so I am very shocked to find this.

My credit report lists the following details:

Mrs Elizabeth J Earle
Account Address: xx***xx
Account Opened: 10 May 2006
Account Number: xx***xx
Current Balance: £391

Equifax listed the account closed on the 4 May 2011, however it seems that Callcredit is still reporting the account as defaulted each month. Although I’m unaware if the account is “Live” or “Closed” with them. Im assuming as they still reporting, they still have the account as “Live”.

I am unaware of how to proceed so I would appreciate your advice on how to get this closed down and the defaults removed from my credit file.

I do not recognise ownership of this account and I dispute the outstanding amount owed.

I await your response within 14 days of the date of this email.

Gratefully

Elizabeth Earle

Sending it straight to the CEO ought to get it looked at promptly by the right dept

    Why give them 14 days?

This email address does work. I've used it myself

You have already asked the same question here: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5416380

Emailing a CEO without having done more research seems a bit previous.

My money is on an account you have forgotten about with a different company which has since been absorbed by (or sold their accounts to) Santander.

I had the same thing with a historic Egg card which was sold to Barclaycard and appeared as Barclaycard on my credit file.

My Egg Loan had been sold to someone else.

I have an unpaid default of £390 on an old account that was closed three years ago. Having only just discovered this default I am trying to pay it off, however the bank cannot trace the account. The account was with A&L but is registered with Sandander.

Anyone got any idea how I can go about paying this off to get it signed off as "Settled" on my credit files? Or just get them to write it off as settled as they cannot trace the account?

I need the quickest way possible please - not one which involves 6 months worth of writing letters.

So in the last two and a half years, you have done nothing about it and now you are going to try to lie your way out of it.

Except, perhaps, for this issue YOU posted about just over 6 months ago:

About two years ago I stopped paying my orange mobile bill due to them constantly cutting off my supply despite my payments being up to date.

Fast forward two years and despite fighting through Cit Adv they constantly ignored me and sold the debt to Lowell.

I was going to take it to court but decided as the default was already two years old, id better just pay it off and move on with life rather than fight it for another year.

I agree a reduced final payment of 80% with Lowell and pay the defaut.

I logged on this month to check my credit file was up to date to discover that Lowell not only have not closed the default (although the recent payment does show) but also the defulat is now registered as June 2015 - meaning another 6 years before it fall off!!!

    Surely they cant do this?

I have sent a email asking what the hell they are playing at, but would like advice as to how to get them to put the orginal date back on and close it down as per our agreement (in writing)
