How do 'link's work for internet/ line rental work?

Further to my previous posting, can someone tell me how these links work. Plusnet have no record of me applying for the deals posted on MSE via the MSE links? Is the form/link directly linked to Plusnet or does it get passed on after being completed? Plusnet say the responsibility for these deals is with MSE and not them! I can't understand why they have not received my applications.
meant to say deals!
meant to say deals!
I'm mad!!!! :rotfl::jand celebrating everyday every year!!!

Just linked thru myself a few days ago. Followed the MSE best deals thread advice to disable my ad blockers and allowed third party cookies in Chrome (can't block all cookies or the sites get rowdy).
I landed on PlusNet with a big banner saying £75 cashback so I took a screenprint of the page, date and time.
I found no reference to the cashback in the terms I had to agree to so I sent a question - no reply. So I called and was told they knew I was eligible for the £75 cashback and could see I linked from MSE but told me MSE pay out the cashback! I know this to be nonsense but maybe there is a poor script provided to the PlusNet staff.
Hidden away you will find that if you enter anyone as a referral you lose your cashback.
I'm keeping my eye on this cashback offer as it would be misleading terms if they don't cough up on some random very small print gotcha that wasn't given reasonable prominence.
I'd keep on asking until somebody admits you have been tracked. That way you aren't waiting 60 days for nowt.

Thanks for your response. I use Firefox on Ubuntu OS. Have had no problems in the past with any links. Have no AD blockers or AV. Did you get an acknowledgement email after signing up? If so, how long did it take to come through?. I've tried twice to sign up Nov 15 and Jan 16 and went through the whole process, setting up account and paying for line rental up front. Have spoken to Plusnet who say they have no record of my applications and that the problem is down to MSE! I can't work out whats going wrong hence my question! Hopefully, someone from the MSE team can explain how the links work. Are they direct with Plusnet or do they go via an MSE server?I'm mad!!!! :rotfl::jand celebrating everyday every year!!!0 -

Got three emails pretty much immediately: first about direct debit, second a welcome with details but no mention of cashback, and third confirming engineer appointment for line install. Also got a text.
I assumed link tracking worked by third party cookie recognition (because of advice not to block cookies or shut browser while linking) but no idea.:o
I especially liked the 14 day cancellation from signup given the engineer's first available booking date was 12 days after signup. But the deal does look good on paper and such details are probably common among providers. Will know soon enough I guess.
There is an MSE email address in the best deal thread down the end where it asks if hassles over the cashback. List of requirements too. Hope MSE sort it out.
EDit: Just read your old thread about aborted signup in November. Gotta be nonsense that it had anything to do with MSE if you signed up on the PlusNet website. The interweb don't work like that far as I know. Sometimes uploaded forms on any site go awol and bounce off around the globe never to land anywhere logical. No warning. I lose loads of posts like that anyway.0 -

Thanks for your input. Have tried signing up again via MSE link earlier today and have taken a screen shot of the welcome to Plusnet page. No emails yet!I'm mad!!!! :rotfl::jand celebrating everyday every year!!!0
